Our next Run: pending due to Covid -19 developments

Covid-19 is back! Despite the fact that there are very few cases in Ho Chi Minh City the Peoples Committee has mandated that all non-essential activities should be cancelled. Whilst we, as Hashers, understand that a Hash run is an essential activity, I am not sure that we could successfully convince the Peoples Committee of this fact. Therefore the Hash is officially cancelled until the restrictions are lifted. Once again we will put the needs of the community above our own personal desires and support Vietnam in its efforts to meet the challenge of Covid-19. Stay safe and I hope to see you on the trail again soon.

News from your GM

The unavailability of the bus and precautionary measures put in place by the Peoples Committee have necessitated the cancellation of the Hash again this week. However, for those of you desperate for some socially distanced exercise I believe the guerrillas will be out again in District 9 on Sunday. If you need more details the guerrillas seem to be very active on the WhatsApp group which can be joined by following the instructions below

The 30th Birthday run is fast approaching (22-23 August) so please remember to save the date.  We are hoping that the hash will be back by this date. We still need a plan for the Saturday night so if you have suggestions please email them to saigonmmc@gmail.com. The schedule has yet to be finalised, in true mismanagement style, however the basic outline is as follows. On Saturday afternoon the bus will pick hashers up from the Caravelle and D2 and take us to Dong Nai for an amazing trail set by Turn Off and Shithouse. On Saturday evening the celebration will continue at a yet to be determined location. On Sunday there will be a recovery run set by Fukcoffee and Sexy Eyes, with Hashers making their own way to the start point followed by an On On at a restaurant at the run site. For those needing more than 2 runs per weekend the Monday Hash is always very pleased to welcome Sunday Hashers and we the Harriettes have decide they 'can be bothered' to do a run on the Friday in District 2. 

This week we received the sad news that a member of our community, Rubber Pussy, had succumbed to cancer and died. Our thoughts and best wishes go out to her family and friends, she touched the lives of many and will be missed. 

I would also like to take this opportunity to wish farewell and safe travels to 2 of our departing Hashers. The Flusher and I Choked Linda Lovelace are both leaving Vietnam for the UK this week. I look forward to the time when out trails cross again, until then On On.

The Hump is a Saigon Hash event, designed to break the long period between Hash runs. There are no rules, so you can call Hashers by their name or Hash handle, drink with your left hand or right hand, stand or sit in a circle, semi-circle, ellipse or square and no need to sit on ice if you arrive after the started start time. In short, the Hump will be easy and relaxed and everybody is welcome.

Other Hashes in Saigon

The Saigon Monday Hash House Harriers run every Monday - surprisingly enough! The start point is always posted on Facebook so please get into the habit of checking it out if you want to run with them (details here).
