Run #1736 Family Affair Trail Run report

Family Fun Run

The Saigon Hash traveled to the relatively close neighborhood of Binh Chanh for run #1,736. The run combined a few tangibles including two namings, a farewell, a family get together, and a great On On for all.

The Hares Non-stop Cock, his daughter My Khe, and Just Vuong whose family hosted the entire group were the Hares. Just Vuong had us tromping through fields of flowers, vegetables, rice, and farm animals. He also had us leaping over wide and narrow canals, trudging through mud, and getting bitten by angry ants. This scribe fell into a mud pit and barely got out. Just Tom, the son of Phuc Me Not Happy, fell into the same mud pit and lost his shoe! There was mud everywhere, but the trail was beautiful with manicured fields growing all kinds of plants and flowers for the Tet markets of the future.

The best feature was an innovative beer stop. One of Vuong’s family members drove a big box of iced beer to a picturesque bridge with a great view of the rice fields. No café. No restaurant. No loud karaoke. Just a nice cold brew with a beautiful view. Magic. Thanks, Vuong and family.

It was the last run for a while for the newly named Full Stop Cock (My Khe) who will be on a plane soon for a MBA program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) which is one of the best universities in the world. Good luck Full Stop Cock and safe travels. The other newly named Hare is Ironclad Dildo (Just Vuong) who is an aficionado of action figures so, of course, the Saigon Hash had to come up with a disgusting sounding name to reflect that hobby.

Ironclad Dildo comes from a great family. His parents hosted the entire lot of us (around 30 Hashers) to have a great On On dinner in their home. Cimen Trader prepared the food and it was fantastic. Plenty of cold beer and some wine as well. Thanks to the generosity of Vuong’s parents and Cimen Trader for putting it all together.

On On to our next Hash, the Heritage Trail, in Thu Dau Mot. It’s a home town kind of run for In and Out and a celebration of the lacquerware artisans of southern Vietnam.
